The Heart Breachers is an organization dedicated to saving humanity from the harmful manifestations of its own emotions. In every explosion of feeling there is ignition, the purest form of energy. Negative feelings breed delay, and positive feelings breed delusion.

The Lost Ones tend to be tame, but the Lingering Ones can wreak havoc in real life, driving their master into a frenzy. These projected forms pale in comparison to igniters that may have to be dealt with directly in extreme cases. The often unruly and brutal killing of an arsonist means destroying the bearer's ability to constantly experience emotions...​
