In 2049, mechanized robots, commonly referred to as GEARs, were developed for military applications. Since then, their versatile functionality has led to them not only becoming commonplace in commercial use, but spawning an entire sports entertainment industry.

The widespread use and popularity of GEAR has created a new academic field known as Senorobotics. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the protagonist is transferred to the ACE Academy, the leading school for the study of hay robotics in Japan.

He struggles to find a team willing to take him and his outdated "American" GEAR into the head-to-head tournament.
